Text Box: Carondelet Children’s Chorus Tenth Anniversary Season Finishes with a Flourish

The season began in September with twelve eager singers rehearsing for the Christmas Concerts at Nazareth and All Saints Church, and the release of their first compact disc with highlights from every chorus for the past ten years. There was the photo shoot for the CSJ Calendar. May would be the month featuring the CCC.
In ten years since its inception the CCC with 168 singers, performed more than 100 songs in Latin, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, French, German, Czech, Japanese, Hebrew, Middle English, Chinese and English; presented ten concerts at Nazareth Living Center, performed at eight different parish churches, in St. Louis as well as the Missouri Botanical Garden and twice at the University of Denver in the Sing a Mile High Festival; recorded a promotional cd for Boosey & Hawkes Inc; recorded two SMH recordings and a DVD; enriched their parish and school programs by participating as cantors, choir and chorus members in their elementary and secondary schools. They have grown in musicianship, confidence, and generosity of spirit by enriching the lives of others through song, and contributing thousands of dollars along with the Carondelet Women’s Chorus from the proceeds of their concerts to organizations such as Friends of Kids with Cancer Inc., Our Little Haven, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officers Association, and the St. Vincent Depaul Society.

Sing a Mile High Festival

Once again in 2009, the CCC was awarded a spot on the
festival program for the Sing a Mile High Choral Festival
Aa the University of Denver June 25-28.
They performed with 410 singers nationwide; enjoyed
a bar-be-cue, soaked themselves silly at a water park; took
in the beauty of Clear Creek
Canyon; explored Georgetown Colorado; performed their
Three Chinese Songs on the stage of the Newman Center
for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver; learned
a great deal about music from Dr. Rollo Dilworth; and
had a great time with one another.
